Krofta Spray Filter
High capacity fiber fractionation and filtration

Recovering valuable fibers for reuse
The Krofta Spray Filter is a robust solution designed specifically for the pulp and paper industry as well as for the textiles industry. It provides efficient fiber fractionation, fiber and felt hair recovery, shower nozzle protection, and effluent polishing before or after a dissolved air flotation (DAF) clarifier. With its innovative design, the Spray Filter ensures maximum efficiency, equipment protection, and cost savings for industrial applications. Krofta Spray-Filter Key advantages :
- Fiber Recovery: Minimize waste and recover valuable fibers, reducing costs and improving sustainability.
- Effluent Polishing: Enhances water quality when used before or after a DAF clarifier.
- Water Reuse: Enhance resource efficiency by reusing water filtered through the Spray Filter.
- Reduced Chemical Usage: Lower chemical demand in clarifiers or sludge presses.
- Equipment Protection: Protect critical components like shower nozzles from clogging and damage
Innovative spray and screen system
The Krofta Spray Filter employs an innovative spray and screen system to deliver highly effective filtration. Here’s how it works:
- Water Inlet: Water enters the Spray Filter through an inlet pipe at the bottom of the unit and flows into a distribution header.
- Spray Nozzles: The header features multiple extension stems, each fitted with a nozzle that sprays the water in a fan-shaped pattern toward the rotating screen.
- Rotating Drum Screen: The spray impacts the screen, which is mounted on a counter-clockwise rotating drum. Fine particles (short fibers) pass through the screen and are collected for discharge, while coarser particles (long fibers) drop toward the cone-shaped bottom for removal.
- Natural Cleaning Motion: The screen’s natural fluttering motion prevents blinding and keeps the filtration surface clean.
- Backwash System: A backwash header periodically sprays fresh water or filtered water in the opposite direction to clean the screen and maintain filtration efficiency.
- Discharge: Filtered water exits the unit, ready for reuse or further treatment. Coarse particles are separately discharged for collection or disposal.
- Customizable Screens: Choose from fabric screens ranging from 38 to 250 microns, tailored to specific applications and water characteristics like temperature and pH.
- Pressure Specifications: The operating pressure for the Spray Filter ranges from 14-18 psi, while the backwash system requires approximately 30 psi.
- Durable Construction: The screen is secured with robust steel clamps at the top and bottom of the drum, ensuring longevity and reliability.
- Ease of Access: Models include Plexiglas access doors and manual rubber wipers for easy maintenance and visual inspection.
Applications
The Krofta Spray Filter is versatile and ideal for:
- Fiber Fractionation: Efficiently separates valuable longer fibers from short fibers and ash in pulp and paper operations.
- Felt Hair Recovery: Prevents clogging and improves machine performance.
Proven performance
With its robust design and advanced features, the Krofta Spray Filter ensures screen lifespans of at least six months, even in demanding applications. Its innovative filtration system has helped numerous facilities achieve greater efficiency, reduced waste, and lower operational costs.
